After the successful startups of cohort 1, finalists of the stage Three (3) in the YSAU program, it is an exalting privilege to be part a finalist of this program. We see 10 startups exhibiting at the GITEX Africa Digital Summit in Morocco. According to PcTech Magazine, in their blog post; these startups are; ShareCARD, Agrosahas International PVT Ltd, Bringo Fresh, Essymart Africa, Impact Nutrition, KaCyber Technologies, KARAA Africa, MScan Uganda, Solar Net Metering Uganda Ltd, Trampo Technologies, and Yunga Technologies.
In a whatsapp interview of a few of the CEOs that exhibited into this global GITEX Africa Digital Summit, here are what they had to say;
On the other Hand, when we talked to the few Entrepreneurs that managed to go through the program, despite not making it to the final stage, their story and experiences are very incredible either, here are a few of their stories below
Geofrey Mutabazi (investee)
CEO of Karaa, a leading provider of electric bicycles and software tools designed to revolutionize sustainable transportation in Africa whose electric bicycles feature a smart pedal assist system, GPS trackers, and a user-friendly app “Our participation in GITEX Africa was an exceptional opportunity to showcase Karaa’s commitment to sustainable transportation in Africa. We were delighted by the enthusiastic response we received from potential customers, partners, and investors. With our innovative electric bicycles and software tools, we aim to revolutionize mobility while promoting environmental consciousness. We are grateful for the support of YSAU, ITC, and Hive Colab in making this event a resounding success.”
Innocent Orikiiriza (Investee)
Founder & CEO of KaCyber Technologies, a transport tech startup focused on mobility solutions with their major product being an e-receipting system for the public transport sector and is currently being used by the Kiira Motors Electric buses as their preferred bus ticketing solution and Uganda Railways commuter trains. KaCyber expresses gratitude to Youth Startup Academy Uganda (YSAU), International Trade Centre, and HIVE COLAB, as well as partners like KOSME and NITA-U, for their support and sponsorship of the program. The experience at GITEX AFRICA reaffirmed KaCyber’s belief in the transformative power of the African tech ecosystem and their position in the mobility space.
This team not only went to showcase, but also to compete for innovation prizes, fundraising, through pitch sessions etc. kacyber’s Innocent Orikiriza was one of those that pitched. Moreover, he says; “I attended the Supernova startup pitch competition at this event, where I learned about various business models from top fellow entrepreneurs across the continent”.
MScan also scooped the Women in Tech award at the recent GITEX Africa summit.
For those of course, the YSAU project team is already organizing for yet another event for the startups to happen in Korea scheduled in November. This is the largest startup event in Korea, which will be another great opportunity for exposure, Partnerships, engaging with investors, etc.
With these great startup stories and experiences above, I would like to give new hope to you reading that another opportunity for you to apply for the program. This is the third (3rd) cohort call. You have about a month left to make your winning application to the Youth Startup Academy Uganda (YSAU) cohort 3.
